The project Memórias Sonoras do Marabaixo aims to safeguard the collective memory of the practitioners and bearers of Marabaixo in the state of Amapá. The ethnographic research aims to document and preserve the cultural legacy of Marabaixo, an Afro-diasporic expression rooted in the Afro-descendant populations who have arrived in Amapá since the 18th century. Marabaixo is characterized by collectivity and the importance of collective memory, which plays a crucial role in maintaining and transmitting traditional knowledge. Through non-directed interviews with mestres in the cities of Mazagão and Macapá, the project intends to capture and preserve the experiences and narratives that sustain this cultural practice. The interviews will address aspects of orality and the transmission of knowledge, providing an in-depth view of how collective memory is preserved and valued within the communities.
